Nagano
About This Spot
Stepping into Nagano on Rådmansgatan, you’re welcomed by an unpretentious, quietly inviting space that feels like a gentle pause in the middle of Stockholm’s rhythm. There’s a certain calm that settles as you cross the threshold, where the modest decor and thoughtfully arranged seating speak to a focus on comfort rather than flash. It’s the kind of lunch spot where the pace is steady but relaxed, inviting you to savor small, honest moments rather than rush through a meal.
Nagano’s charm lies in its simplicity and the careful curation of a few beloved Japanese dishes. The menu, deliberately concise, lets each item breathe — from the tender, crispy tonkatsu to the subtly seasoned chicken katsu curry — reflecting a quiet confidence in what’s offered rather than a desire to overwhelm. The food feels familiar yet distinct, accompanied by warming touches like miso soup and delicate pickled vegetables that add layers to the experience without distraction.
There’s a homely, almost familial feel that permeates the room. Service moves at a human pace, friendly without being overly formal, which perfectly suits the everyday appeal of this place. It’s somewhere that clearly values the craft behind its dishes and the steady beat of regular patrons returning for a dependable favorite. Here, meals are less about spectacle and more about that steady satisfaction of a dish well-made and a moment well-spent.
If you find yourself craving a quiet corner for a midday meal, Nagano offers a sincere, grounded taste of Japan’s comfort food, wrapped in the modest warmth of a neighborhood refuge.

A lunch place that serves simple Japanese dishes, the menu is small but good enough for lunch. Overall the taste was “Lagom” but since the price was moderate and there are not so many places serving these dishes in Stockholm, I give a 4-star instead of 3. The Tonkatsu was properly made with crispy out layers and tender meat, matched perfectly with the curry sauce. The pork’s odor was totally removed, but the cut was a bit too thin and it almost tasted like schnitzel. Furthermore, they were not using Japanese rice, nor even short grain rice, which made the whole dish less tasty. I’d rather they increase the price and change to the short grain rice for perfection.

We tried their Teriyaki chicken and chicken Katsu curry. Both were delicious. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked. The lady at the reception was very sweet and attentive. Very limited menu but a decent place for lunch.

I heard how people complained about how thin the tonkatsu was, but it was definitely not in my case! The pork cutlet was thick and juicy with some subtle fatty bit. The tori katsu cutlet was also juicy. The pickled cabbage blended well with the whole main dish. If anything, maybe the curry sauce itself was a bit too weak for my taste (I know Japanese curry sauce isn't same as other curries), but overall I'm satisfied with my lunch. Not to mention that the price is good and the place is quiet and cozy. I will likely come back again when I crave some.

The restaurant is decorated super well. The food is tasty only 2 options but i think they change. Also they give you miso soup to warm up. Overall good restaurant if you’re looking for cheap and good food

Pretty good, no-frills katsu lunch spot. As someone else said, the mixing of curry with katsu sauce is a weird choice. Maybe give the option up front? My katsu came out less warm than I would have liked and not as crispy either. That said, it was still pretty good and the chicken katsu was thick and a large serving. Good value for the price. Good enough to go back but wish they had a spicier option.
